History of Magazines

  Welcome back everyone!

Surely it hasn’t been a while since we came on here but anyhow, The topic today is about the History of Magazines. We come back from finishing the preliminary and now we’re onto the history.

The history of magazines. So what is a magazine? According to Google's definition a magazine is “a periodical publication containing articles and illustrations, typically covering a particular subject or area of interest.”. It is a type of literature that originated in the 17th century and its purpose was to distribute information and news of a general or specific area/audiences.

According to Sources, the first ever magazine was created in the country of Germany in the 17th Century. The first ever productions of magazines started throughout Europe, usually magazines at the time were targeted towards “elites' ' and women. The first ever magazine that was published was called “Erbauliche Monaths Unterredungen”. Although that was the first ever one, the first general interest magazine that came to be was called “The Gentleman's Magazine”

We move on to the question, why were magazines even developed? Magazines were a chance for publishers who were poets, authors, writers etc..to be able to reach audiences of a much larger scale, not just for advertisers. People are able to trust the information that is presented in the magazine which eventually builds up credibility and non biasness for the author giving them a good hand to their careers.

Another reason why magazines are important now are because now students could interact and come across many different types of texts and topics that vary thanks to the new variety of magazines in the world now

Masthead

Me and my partner Abeldar worked together to come up with a masthead that was proper and attractive enough to attract a crowd based on just the masthead. this is the masthead that we came up with based on our survey results and what we thought would be the best for a gaming issue magazine covering different topics and forms of gaming.  Our masthead and magazine title will be called GameVerse with sharp edged fonts that will provide uniqueness to our title and give a sense of video gaming like no other, GameVerse is to talk about multiple gaming issues including Arcade and Virtual Reality/Mobile gaming. Although that this is our final masthead title the color of the word Game will be different to our liking.
