Continuing on the learning of Camera shots... I was able to learn about more than just the master/establishment shot. On this blog I will go over another example of a Camera shots and will undergo and explain it as well.
This shot is called an Aerial shot. As you can clearly see it is shot from above the characters and the setting at a high angle. This shot gives us another point of view of the scenery and what we are to engage in. Aerial shots are usually shot to show the surroundings that relate to the character, sometimes mostly showing loneliness and vulnerability or weakness..
This shot shown to the right is what is known as a Mid-Shot. A mid-shot is a shot that allows the audience to be able to understand the body language of the character in the main focus. The audience is able to tell that of the scenario and what is going on. The ratio between the character's genders, the problem maybe the character is facing as apposed to the people around them, it could be easily interpreted in many ways.
These shots before I learned about them, I had no idea what they were named nor do I think I was ever going to find out. Mid-shot and Aerial shots are very common in day to day movies I see all the time and now I am able to distinguish and what shots they are when I see them in movies.
Moving forward to the last blog of the Camera Shot Trilogy. We will be switching to a camera shot but more specifically an angle... HERE WE GO!
