Touching up on one more version of Camera Knowledge is the last topic which will be Camera Composition. We have covered Camera Angles (High angle etc…) and Camera Shots (Aerial shot etc…). Camera Composition is important for the photographer of the shot, Framing and Depth are key factors in this element of a shot.
The Framing of a shot plays a role that is very important to the meaning of the production. It is usually broken into thirds and this rule is called Rule of thirds. Usually when an object/character is in the upper left side or top of the frame, it shows power over the rest of the characteristics of the shot.
This shot composition is called Standard focus. Standard focus is when the background is visible enough but not enough to distract you from the foreground which is the main focus to be able to show the characters expression and being able to develop an understanding of their feeling. Also the most common used depth or focus in movies/images/texts etc…
Shallow focus is what the image above represents. When the foreground is the only thing that is visible. Sure you could say you could see the background but that is just because you can tell what it already is but the background is barely visible and the foreground is mainly focused to show the intense details of the character or characteristic.
Now that we have touched up on all the Camera Functions, we’re finally done with all camera angles, shots and compositions. I have learned so much through these 4 blogs on the knowledge of the different camera settings and styles and positioning and I have enjoyed it all and it has been my favorite set of blogs. I would’ve never known that these shots, these focuses, angles represented what they did without this experience.
See you on the next blog, hope you enjoyed!!
